Marissa Reese is a Nashville native who’s journey has lead her to a career in helping women achieve their best selves. She is a Fitness Nutrition Coach with a holistic approach on health and wellness grounded in mindset, movement, food choices, gut health and the need for self love. Going through her own health challenges has given her a heart for helping others through similar struggles. It has been in the past year that Marissa’s heart has shifted towards coaching women during the time of preconception, prenatal and postpartum and to help them become advocates for their own health.
Marissa has completed trainings such as: BIRTHFIT Coach, Childhood Development, Early Childhood Education, Personal Training through ACE and NESTA, received her Bachelors of Science with a concentration in Nutrition from Middle Tennessee State University and currently enrolled in the Masters of Exercise and Nutrition Science program at Lipscomb University. Marissa is elated to be able to bring her passion for wellness to the Nashville moms through mindfulness, movement, nourishment and self care.
Marissa and her husband, Austin, have an eleven year old daughter and welcomed a baby girl in August of 2018.
Melissa Sheffield has a background in functional fitness with certifications in CrossFit, CrossFit kids, and training in Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS), in addition to the BIRTHFIT coach certification. She also holds a Precision Nutrition Certification and works for Working Against Gravity as a nutrition coach. Melissa has coached CrossFit and personal training clients for the last three years, and has worked with nutrition clients for the last two.
In what she lovingly refers to as her ‘past life’ Melissa earned a Bachelors degree in Social Work and used that time to serve women in the motherhood transition and through pregnancy planning.
In 2015 while pregnant with her daughter, she found BIRTHFIT and knew instantly it was something she needed to be a part of. From there she began learning what she could and implementing whatever pieces she could on her own before joining the team in 2018.
Melissa has a heart for providing a safe space for families, especially women in transition. And a passion for providing the tools for a healthful lifestyle that includes movement, nutrition, and mindset.
She says her biggest accomplishment to date is definitely how her family has grown, however unconventionally.
